British Para Table Tennis name change is official
British Table Tennis Association for the Disabled Limited trading as British Para Table Tennis has officially changed its name to British Para Table Tennis Limited.
The motion was put forward by the Board at the Annual General Meeting which took place virtually on 8 September 2020 and subsequently accepted by its members. The change was accepted by Companies House on 19 October 2020.
Karen Tonge MBE, Chairman of British Para Table Tennis is delighted that this change of name has been agreed.
‘It reflects the elite nature of Para Table Tennis and puts the emphasis on the performance and ability of our athletes and not on their disability. We are pleased that nine players have already qualified for the Tokyo Paralympics, with a further opportunity for others to qualify in early 2021.’
In addition to its 16-strong Performance squad, the British Para Table Tennis team has a successful Pathway programme which, since its inception in 2013, has produced a number of players who have progressed to win medals at major events, including the World and European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
