The 2020 BPTT Michael Hawkesworth National Championships, which were due to take place on April 6-7 and were initially postponed, have now been cancelled.
“We postponed the Championships last month in the hope that we could reschedule the event at a later date this year,” said BPTT Chairman Karen Tonge MBE. “However, following a Competitions Committee meeting over Zoom, the Committee have come to a unanimous conclusion that the 2020 BPTT Michael Hawkesworth National Championships should not be rescheduled for later this year.
“Due to the uncertainty of the current situation in the UK (and globally), it would be unwise to organise a tournament in an enclosed space, featuring vulnerable juniors and adults, given that the current guidelines suggest social distancing will be in place for the foreseeable future.
“We have therefore proposed to focus our efforts on the 2021 National Championships at the end of April next year, with a reassessment of this proposal in six months’ time.”
