Members of the British Para Table Tennis Team will be in action at their respective National Championships with the English, Welsh and Scottish Championships all taking place this weekend.
The PG Mutual English Senior National Championships at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham includes a Para Class 7-10 singles category which will feature World and Commonwealth champion Ross Wilson (class 8), Paralympic champion Will Bayley (class 7) and last year’s winner London and Rio Paralympic team medallist Aaron McKibbin (class 8) as well as European team silver medallist Ashley Facey Thompson (class 9) who has also qualified to compete in the able-bodied men’s singles.
“It’s not just important for me but for British Para Table Tennis to be at the Nationals,” said Facey Thompson. “To know that we can compete with the top players on the able bodied circuit and show the strength of the Paralympic side of table tennis. I played some good matches in the qualification and I’m really proud that I’ve qualified.”
